About Us

                                                  Where it all began!!

Pony & Pooch Petcare was founded Christmas 2004 by Hillary Smith (owner and principal carer) and 'Moey' (Hillary's gorgeous and energetic Border Collie!).  It is a small (but growing!) professional mobile business based in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane, and currently services a large area of the Western Suburbs (see the Suburbs page for a list of the suburbs currently covered).

Pony & Pooch Petcare offers a guaranteed, reliable, and trust worthy service standing by what they say 'Trusting Care for Your Best Friends’, and cater for all animals, specialising in horses and dogs. 

Hillary not only has a passion for animals but has a lifetime of knowledge and extensive experience working with and handling all types of animals, through growing up on a sheep property in NSW.  She is also a highly proficient horsewoman, growing up through NSW Pony Club and having ridden all her life in a variety of disciplines including; hacking, show jumping, dressage, stock work, polo crosse, and western.  Hillary has done over six years of obedience and agility training with her own dog 'Moey' through ‘Wagtails’ Training and Obedience which uses positive reinforcement training techniques.  Hillary holds a degree in Business Management and is approximately two thirds of the way through her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Queensland.  She is also currently undertaking additional animal courses including horse husbandry, and a national accredited pet carer course.

Hillary started Pony & Pooch Petcare last Christmas after her own experiences with her own pets. She has always wanted to work with animals and help people with their own animals.  She thought of the idea years ago and now cares for a variety of pets for owners when they go away.  Her own dog is a great testament to how much happier pets are in their own home when owners are away.  “I use my own business (naturally) when I go away and can’t take Moey with me - I find my dog is very relaxed and unfazed when I get home - I don’t think she misses me at all!.  She is able to sleep on her own bed, play with her own toys, maintain her normal diet, while still getting her daily walks.  I find she adjusts very well with no problems.  I find this exactly the same with all of my clients pets, the owners come home to healthy happy pets!".

Pony & Pooch Petcare is committed in caring for animals and supports agencies that support the welfare of animals in our community.  Pony & Pooch Petcare contributes on a regular basis to the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), and the RSPCA.
